Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 15ITL notebook review: the intricacies of yoga

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 15ITL notebook review 01 / 04 / 21 Kuantyay Sabaaymi Visitors: 1048 Rating: ★★★★★

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 15 is a business class model with advanced hardware and interfaces. And although the screen does not rotate 180 here, there are still a lot of interesting things in this laptop.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 15 is one of the typical representatives of business models. With a large (relative to 13-14 inch laptops) screen, modern filling, while light and thin.

Design and features

Thickness: 16.1mm

Weight: 1.68kg

Indeed: the reality is that even 15.6-inch laptops no longer look bulky. For example, our Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 15 is only 16.1mm thick, so it really is Slim. It weighs 1.68 kg - one and a half times more than a modern 14-inch ultrabook, but still not much.

The case is made of aluminum and has a matte finish, but despite this, it still collects fingerprints. The corners of the case are rounded, which makes it easier to "pack" it into a backpack or bag. The quality of workmanship and assembly of the case is, as usual, at its best. We did not find any backlash or bending of the panels.

Thanks to the slight lid at the top of the lid, it can be easily lifted with one hand, the hinge allows it to be tilted up to 180 .

Yes, there is no mistake: although this is Yoga, it will not work to make a tablet out of a laptop.

The power button is now located on the right edge, next to the connectors. It also implements a fingerprint sensor.

In addition, it is possible to unlock the laptop via the standard Windows Hello function.

Screen and keyboard

Diagonal: 15.6 inches

Resolution: 1920x1080

Matrix type: IPS

For the sake of modern trends, the screen is made widescreen, and this is convenient not only for watching movies. For example, on such a screen, you can place two windows side by side and work with them comfortably.

Through the use of a matrix
Due to the use of the IPS matrix, the image remains contrasting, and the colors do not float when viewed from any angle. It is also useful when you are discussing another project with your colleagues. The resolution is 1920 x 1080, like most notebooks of this class.

Lenovo keyboards have long been a solid top five. Here it is full-sized, with a digital block and multimedia control keys. You can choose from three backlighting options: automatic or 2 levels to choose from.

The touchpad is shifted to the left: it may seem small, but you get used to it quickly when working. The surface is pleasant, gestures are always recognized accurately.

Communication interfaces and modules

USB 3.2 Gen1 * 2

USB Type-C (Thunderbolt + DisplayPort + Power Delivery)

USB Type-C Power Delivery 3.0

SD card reader

HDMI

Combo microphone / headphone jack

The dimensions of the laptop made it possible to fit almost all types of interfaces in demand on the ends. These are two regular USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A, a pair of USB-C, one of which has Thunderbolt support and can work as DisplayPort in alternate mode, HDMI, card reader and combined audio jack.

With wireless interfaces, everything is fine too: on board Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0.

Performance

Processor: Intel Core i7 1165G7 2800 MHz

Video adapter: built-in, Intel Iris Xe

Memory: 16/512 GB

Yoga is positioned as a business-class model, therefore it has a rather powerful filling. In our version, this is a processor of the still latest generation Intel Core i7 1165G7 2800 MHz and a good supply of 16 GB of RAM. But the graphics are built-in, Intel Iris Xe, so you will hardly be able to run games at high settings.

Intel Core i7 1165G7 is a new processor with 4 cores and 8 threads, made on a 10nm process technology. The operating frequency is 2800 MHz, in Turboboost mode it can be increased up to 4.7 GHz.

It seems unrealistic to hit the limit and make the laptop "slow down" in office use. A lot of open programs and tabs do not bother him too much. If you still load the processor, for example, by imposing effects on video, performance still does not drop. The fans start to work more actively, their noise (which during normal use is not audible at all) becomes noticeable, but the cooling system does an excellent job - the case heats up minimally.

Battery: 71 Wh

Battery life: up to 16 h

Lenovo promises an impressive 16 hours of battery life. But this, as usual, is the ideal alignment. We used it as usual: browsers, email client, office programs (all connected via Wi-Fi) - the battery lasted for 8 hours and 12 minutes. Also an excellent result. The battery charges quickly: the set includes a 65W adapter with support for Rapid Charge, which allows you to reach about 80% capacity in an hour of connection. In half an hour we managed to gain 49%.
